Itinerary
You will depart from London by midnight and an overnight coach and ferry journey will take you straight to Holland’s capital Amsterdam. Upon arrival in Amsterdam, you will have a good breakfast for a good start for the day. Amsterdam has many important and strategic centres with its magnificent museums, cultural centres, old canals, historical texture and vibrant nightlife. Today you will start your day with art and the Van Gogh Museum is one of the world's best-known museums, attracting visitors from all over the world. It is of course mainly because it contains Vincent Van Gogh's most extensive collection of works-over 200 paintings, five hundred designs and 700 of his letters. The Van Gogh Museum was expanded and modernized in 1973, initially opened to Museumplein, to ensure that it really is a leading exhibition and visitor area. You will admire the top drawings such as The Potato Eaters, Garden With Courting Couples: Square St. Pierre, The Langlois Bridge, The Sower, Sunflowers, The Yellow House (The Street), The Bedroom, Self Portrait as a Painter (He has plenty of self-portrait paints) Wheatfield with a Reaper, Almond Blossoms, Irises, Wheatfields under Thunderclouds, Wheatfield with Crows, Tree Roots, Haymaking Eragny, Montmartre in the Rain, Tulip Fields near The Hague, Self-Portrait with Portrait of Gauguin, Self-Portrait with Portrait of Emile Bernard (Les Misérables), Vincent van Gogh Painting Sunflowers, Young Woman at a Table ‘Poudre de riz’ are all impeccable paintings between 1885 to 1897. Say cheese (later, eat cheese) in front of iconic “I love Amsterdam” sign. As you are familiar with many European countries, there are talented young people and street painters who perform street shows among (ice) skaters. Dam Square is one of the meeting places for all. After seeing the Royal Palace and Niewe Kerk, you will pass to Leidseplein Square. In Max Euweplein Vers time, you will be able to visit the giant chess field in this square. Another important square in Amsterdam is Rembrandtplein Square. The landmark takes its name from Rembrandt, who was a painter and master of printing in 1876, and his sculpture is right on this square. Tonight you will dine on fine pizza on the canal tour, where you will discover the city in the famous canals of Amsterdam by night.
After breakfast, you will visit the former home of one of the most famous former residents of Amsterdam, Anne Frank. In Amsterdam, she lived for over two years in hiding with her family during the Second World War at the Anne Frank House at Prinsengracht 263. Today it is turned into a museum and contains a sobering exhibition of persecution and discrimination against Jews during the war. You will be able to imagine the pain and tears in the past. After the museum, you will visit Volendam with its historical houses, wooden boats, cafes, wood carvings and traditional Dutch shoes, looms, colourful and cosy shops, flower markets and the famous Dutch cheese dairies are completely irresistible. Yes, you will also not be able to resist the inviting smell of Dutch waffles cooked in street cafes. During your visit, you will also get a briefing on how to make cheese in a cheese workshop and of course you will sample some of those cheeses. Your next stop is Marken. Marken’s small stone bridges complement Volendam with its fairy-tale beauty and home of the clog. Here, you will learn why these famous clog shoes are made of wood. An interesting story. Okay, after lunch, you will head towards beautiful Bruges. Welcome to a Flemish art city in the heart of Europe. The photogenic waterways and fairytale Architecture have often been called 'Venice of the North' making “Brügge” one of Europe's most beautiful cities. A medieval masterpiece, like an open-air museum, Bruges' beautiful UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town is an opportunity for its visitors to experience the rich blend of Flemish architecture, art, history and Flemish cuisine. It became extremely popular in Bruges and throughout the year its streets were thronged with cameras by the tourists. For good reason, there are magic sights around each corner and only the romantic charm of the cities is enhanced by the tone of horse-drawn wagons riding cobblestones. The monumental Belfry Tower is the most magnificent attraction at the Central Market Square, as the views from the top of this masterpiece are impressive. A boat ride along the iconic Bruges Canals would be an excellent idea however your time is quite limited so if time allows you will also visit the Burg Square and the Holy Blood Basilica that claims to have Jesus Christ's own blood. Time to leave this fairy- tale city for London, and your journey will take you back to London by midnight. Hope you enjoyed your trip and we would be very pleased to see you next time on one of our trips to Europe.
