After an early start, you will travel to Brugge via Dover and Calais. On the way to Bruges, y7ou will have a heart breakfast. Your first stop is Sint- Annakerk, the most genuine church of Sint- Annakerk with a magnificent interior before heading to Burg Square where Bruges was settled. Listen about its history in the middle of the square.
Now get your cameras ready as you will be walking along the photogenic and famous canals. Okay, it’s time for a sweet break. You will stop at the original Chocolatier from Belgium to taste some delicious pralines / truffles, because as you know Belgium = Chocolate. You will be given some information and tips about Bruges' craftsmanship in 14th century church on your next activity, proceeding to the historical hospital to hear about the medieval life stories of the sick people.
Beer, though in a pipeline under the Belgians' cobbled paving grounds, flows literally across the fairytale streets of Bruges, the capital of West Flanders. That means you will not only talk about chocolate in Belgium, right? Let’s move on. “It becomes eternal love, when you walk across the bridge and kiss your loved one”. That’s what they say in Lake of Love (Minnewater) and Lovers Bridge.
Along with the swans, you will admire the beauty of Minnewaterpark in Bruges. You have been waiting for this. Without the boat tour on the Bruges canals, a visit to the beautiful city of Bruges is not complete. A half hour boat trip will take you out of this world. You will admire splendid views of the most beautiful sites of Bruges while gently gliding through the canals of Bruges. It’s a must-do activity in the city.
After Bruges you will head towards the capital, Brussels. Check in at the hotel in the city centre and some free time to relax and chill out. For those who have some energy can enjoy the nightlife of the capital. Rest of the night is yours.
After a Belgian breakfast, you and your guide will head to the old stock exchange "La Bourse" dating back to 1873. You will examine its grandiose neoclassical façade, which is brilliant with sculptures and friezes, lunging horses and numerous allegorical figures. Some of the work was done by a young sculptor, Rodin. Your next stop is The Grand-Place is Brussels' central square.
It is famous throughout the world for its decorative and aesthetic richness. Surrounding the Grand-Place are the guild houses, the City Hall, and the House of the King. The Grand-Place was registered in 1998 on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Along with the Royal Galleries and the very famous Manneken Pis! You will explore the capital’s rich historic past and the world-class real culture on this tour. Your tour doesn't only concern famous landmarks for today.
You will also wander past a quiet, charming cul-de-sac, and discover hidden passages, wondering at a charming little church on your way. Belgium's biscuits are also renowned and therefore we will crown the tour with your visit to the town's traditional biscuit shop from the 17th century. You will now head towards one of the hidden secrets of Brussels “Théâtre de Toone”.
Here is the sad story: The actors were not allowed to raise their satirical pieces against the Spanish rulers during the Spanish occupation of the Netherlands. The result was the doll shows. The fierce dialogues, pronounced with lifeless dolls, were easier to tolerate. By 1830 the puppet theatre, then in Marolles, was opened by Antoine Genty.
This popular entertainment has become a Royal Puppet Theater over 180 years later. Whole history lies here so just listen to the rest of the story. Your return journey from Brussels to London takes about 6 hours arriving at midnight. We do hope you enjoyed your Belgium getaway with its rich history and culture. See you again in one of our tours soon.
