The Chapel of Sainte George is the Knights of the Garter Church, the oldest English chivalry order, and the Knights Banner is hung below its uplifting Gothic vaults. There is much fascinating history to learn here.
Your next stop is Oxford with its worldwide known universities as well as other important landmarks such as Christ Church, Oxford Castle & Prisons, Grand Covered Market for a traditional atmosphere for shopping and beautifully designed streets by the most important examples of every architectural style in England from the Saxons to the present day.
After Oxford you will proceed to the prehistoric Stonehenge, which stands alone in the vast, empty section of the Salisbury Valley as the world's most famous prehistoric and now a World Heritage Site. Its origins date back almost 5,000 years and since then it has been home to pagan religions and spiritual worship. What was the purpose of this huge collection of stones? Was it a Moon Sighting Observatory, a Sun Temple, or a complex cemetery? Who were those people that took these 40-ton rocks and carved them? You can learn all the answers and marvel at this remarkable and mysterious feat of ancient design and engineering here today. After Stonehenge it’s time to return to your home, that surely is London.
